What is your educational/professional background?

I have a master’s degree in information management from Tilburg University. After graduating, I joined Accenture and stayed there for nearly 18 years. I led various groups and was responsible for creating digital solutions for a broad range of clients, always using technological innovation as a means to make an impact on business strategy.

What made you choose INNOPAY?

I left Accenture last year because I wanted to work in a smaller and more entrepreneurial environment. I joined INNOPAY because it felt like an opportunity to do exactly that. I was particularly impressed by INNOPAY’s forward-looking vision on ‘everything transaction’, the positive energy, and the prospect of working with a highly motivated group of smart people.

What do you think is the future of digital transactions?

It is obvious that the past wave of the platform economy has had a huge impact on society and how markets operate. I believe the next wave will come from technological advancements in AI and robotics, which will result in things making autonomous decisions on running transactions. Another aspect is that the push for further digitisation along with innovations in AR/VR mean that our entire lives will be mirrored digitally, everywhere and all the time, in the metaverse. For me, this is both exciting and frightening (Black Mirror, anyone?). I feel this is where we have a responsibility, and that the outcomes of our work should contribute to ‘the greater good’.

What do you like most about working in consulting?

From a career perspective, you could say I was born and raised in consulting, so it’s second nature for me now. What I like about consulting is that the work is always fresh and exciting because you get to meet so many clients who put their trust in you to really help them move forward.
