Beau Schellekens
Junior Consultant
I started my academic career at Amsterdam University College where I studied Liberal Arts and Sciences and specialised in Economics and Biomedical Sciences. Halfway through my studies, I grabbed the opportunity to move to Canada to study at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver School of Economics. I subsequently came back to the Netherlands to study at the University of Amsterdam, where I did my MSc in Economics, specialising in Markets and Regulation. Alongside my part-time position as a Junior Consultant at INNOPAY, I finished my master’s thesis on ‘Post-acquisition innovation outcomes in the diabetic pharmaceutical market’. After graduation I started to work full-time at INNOPAY.
Whilst my current academic study fulfils all my expectations, there is only so much one can learn in classrooms. For me, knowledge from other disciplines, as well as from other cultures and people, is what makes the world of business and economics not only complex but also more interesting. I was attracted to apply to INNOPAY by the ability to explore working in the field of digital transactions, because it combines expertise from the business, technological and regulatory perspectives. So far, I have been intrigued by the people that form INNOPAY today, by their entrepreneurial mindset and most of all by their enthusiasm to make a vivid contribution to a more data-driven world of transactions.
I think there is still much to discover in digital transactions concerning geographic expansion. For example, while the adoption of Open Finance activities is increasing across Europe, there seems to be a lot of ground to cover in pan-European payments.
Strategic consultancy demands a work culture and ethic that I would describe as unique. I enjoy working with a true cross-section of people from various backgrounds who are united by a shared passion. Everyone seems to be driven, high-performing and dynamic in every way possible.
