Is there a role for the banks in m-banking?

M-banking is hot, but not in the high-tech sense. Financial services via the mobile phone specifically get attention in emerging economies, where there is a high penetration of mobile phone subscribers and low bankarization. Although banks in these economies could benefit enormously from this potential, it seems that the mobile operators have the strongest position: higher market coverage, control over the mobile device and less competition. So how can the banks seize the potential and benefit from this movement?
