Paypal business payments pilot, the only way forward?

Paypal has started to pilot business payments. One of their pilots is the US e-invoicing provider Freshbooks. Is this the way forward? I am a little in doubt here. On the functional side I very much love this solution. Its easy, integrated, doesnt separate between consumers and businesses and uses the reach of Paypal. But thats also the problem I have with this, do we really need Paypal to develop a good online b2b payment solution? I would like to see a more competitive offering in a 4 party model, than a closed paypal network with high(er) costs (not sure what the costs will be , but a normal bank transfer is almost for free today)

There is clearly a market for Paypal, but where are (traditional) banks in this?

See here for the pilot http://www.freshbooks.com/blog/2011/04/20/new-paypal-business-payments/
